It’s easy to get distracted. I’ve experienced it on several occasions, as I’m sure many of you have. Your day was well planned—beginning with spending time with the Lord. Then, the unexpected happened. The phone rang, there was a knock at the door, or perhaps someone on your job had a problem and needed your help. Your intentions were good when you started your day, but nevertheless you’ve accomplished nothing. Most importantly, you’ve allowed distractions to keep you from the one thing that is most important—time alone with your heavenly Father. God understands you have responsibilities to your family, your job or business that require your attention. He doesn’t look to you to spend every waking hour in prayer and studying His Word. But what He does expect is that we, as His sons and daughters, keep all distractions at bay—that we not become so preoccupied with other things that we don’t make time for Him. God’s Word is your lifeline. It’s your pathway to success and victory here, as well as eternal life with your Heavenly Father. Don’t neglect it by allowing yourself to become distracted.
