Raise the Standard and Fly the Flag of Spiritual Freedom
What our communities need are not more of the same thing, but more of a better thing. And that better thing is the purpose of God being manifested in the lives of his children. We need to Raise the Standard – of living – and Fly the Flag of Spiritual Freedom. However, if we are to change our demographics, we have to be ready, willing, and able to change our mindset. For many years, the advertising slogan of a retail conglomerate has been that an educated consumer is our best customer. However, I’ve amended that phrase to say that an educated Christian is the devil’s worse adversary.
The only way to beat the devil at his own game is to carry the spirit of the living God with you wherever you are – in your heart, mind, and spirit. All a seed needs to grow is that it be planted. Once the seed is planted, it grows (or sprouts up) naturally. Bearing in mind that every seed has within itself the element of its own being, we need to focus on what type of seeds are planted in our garden – i.e. heart and mind – and the gardens of this world that form the communities that we live in.
Moreover, it is not the simple planting of seeds that makes a garden bountiful, but the nurturing it receives during the process. A well-seeded plot can turn out to be a barren land if the environment is not conducive to growth and productivity. Therefore, we have to be mindful – very mindful – of not only what seeds are being planted and how they are being planted, but where they are being planted, and by whom are they being nurtured. After all, the devil has his purpose – and that is to steal, to kill, and to destroy. However, it’s not the devil’s agenda that I’m working with but God’s – and that is that we might have life and have IT more abundantly. So all the devil’s evil devices not withstanding, what we need to be doing instead of crying foul is to Raise the Standard and Fly the Flag of Spiritual Freedom, that we might press on to take hold of that which Christ died to take hold of for us. For whom the son sets free is free indeed. HALLELUJAH! AMEN.
