Be True to Who You Are, and Enjoy Your Portion in This Life

Be True to Who You Are, and Enjoy Your Portion in This Life. Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’, because the Jones are busy trying to keep up with you.
Pay attention: You take one step, they take two…so why are they not two times further ahead? Because if they lose sight of where you are, they have no understanding of who they are or benchmark or where they need to be. So Raise the bar, set the standard, and give them something to reckon with. If they can run your race and keep your pace and be all that they can be, then you will have someone to reckon with, and by then there will be no need for reckoning, because you’ll all be on even par…with yourself, with God, and with your fellowman.
14There was a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it and constructed large siegeworks against it. 15But there was found in it a poor wise man and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man. 16So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised and his words are not heeded. 17The words of the wise heard in quietness are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. 18Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Ecclesiastes 9:14-17 (Berean Study Bible)
