Spiritual Ingenuity
Whatever your religious beliefs (or disbeliefs) and knowledge of spiritual warfare, we all know the forces of Good and Evil. In the realm of Christianity, Good is represented by the God-head and the angels, emanating out of their heavenly domain, and Evil is represented by the devil and his host of demons (fallen angels), emanating out of hell.
I am not an authority on religion, and I don’t want to be. All I want to know is that God – the omniscient, omnipotent, all-encompassing being, who for all intents and purposes created the universe to glorify his name – is no respecter of persons and that he has given us the power to choose which of those two forces we will align our spirits with and permit to dominate our lives.
I use the phrase two forces simply to be politically correct, because even if you dispute the existence of God and Satan, you cannot dispute the fact that Evil and Good prevails. Now, the question that we – you me, and the whole world – have to ask ourselves is, AIf good exists independent of evil and evil exists independent of good, who (or what) are keeping the home fires burning.
Seriously, someone must be putting fuel in the fire, because after all these centuries (hundreds, thousands, or millions – depending on whose authority you chose to go on), how come neither of them have dissipated? How many times have you put the pot on the stove and forget to turn on the gas? What happened when you scratched a match and tried to light the stove? Nothing – right? Do you know why nothing happened? Simple, you forgot to turn on the gas. I’m sure once you figured that out, your next attempt to light the stove proved successful. That is because you need two elements to produce fire, one being fuel and the other being spark. In modern-day America we use gas as the fuel and the spark from the match. In many third world countries, they use Kerosene as the igniting fuel. In other instances, some people may use charcoal or electricity, and in the ancient of days, and, if throw-way-back history is to be believed, there was that unbelievable but true method of rubbing two sticks together to create fire. So, again, I ask, “Who or what is fueling the fire of Good and Evil that is evidently so prevalent in the world today?” If you can answer that question, you are well on your way to exercising spiritual ingenuity.
God never leaves anything half done. He is the author of completion, not the author of confusion, and when God is in the midst, there is no doubt as to what his intentions are. Witness, the judgment of man after his fall from grace and the banishment of Satan into hell (Genesis 3:14-17); The Godly to be saved – the story of Noah (Genesis 6:8); the earth destroyed by the great flood (Genesis 7:21-23); Sodom and Gomorrah: facing destruction (Genesis 18:20-22), Abraham’s intercession (Genesis 18:23-32), Lot is saved (Genesis 19:16-22); the destruction (Genesis 19:24-25). This just brings us to the 19th chapter of the Book of Genesis – there are 50 more such chapters – and a total of 66 books in the Bible and through them all God’s pattern of mercy and total destruction continues. If by this time, you are still hovering in fear and trepidation feel free to oblige yourself by reading these scriptures for yourself and seeking God in prayer for His divine answer to your questions and concerns.
