Teach us thy ways O Lord, that we may not be deceived by the evil one – for we know that our adversary, the devil, goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.   Teach us the sound of your voice, O Lord, that we may hear you when you call. Teach us how to walk in obedience – that we may heed your word, Lord, and be circumspect. Teach us how to be humble – less we become puffed up in ourselves and lose the grace that you have given us, Lord.

Show us the works of thy hand O Lord, that we may not become enamoured by the works of evil doers. Show us thy glory, Lord, that we may always look towards the light – and refrain from the darkness.  Create in us a hunger for your word, Lord – lest we be tempted to eat the fruits of unrighteousness.  Saturate us with thy spirit, Lord, lest we become needy and seek fulfillment from the cesspool of destruction.

Lead us, by your spirit, Lord, that we may not falter in our footsteps – or grow weary in well-doing. Lead us away from divers temptation, Lord – lest we grow weak and succumb to them.
