The Valley of Affliction

Sometimes we have to walk through the valley of affliction by ourselves, because it is only at that point that the depth of our conviction is made known to us and we are closest to God. It is at the quietest moment that the voice of God is heard with the greatest clarity – It is at our darkest moments that the glory of God shines most brilliantly – It is in facing our deepest fears that we find comfort in the arms of God – it is in the loneliest periods of our existence that we call upon his name.  It is in the trying times that we hear the whisper of  God’s love in the faintest breeze – it is when we cry out in pain that we feel the comfort of his healing grace – it is only when we die to self that we will live in the spirit – it is only through the spirit that we can find wisdom in his word.

The days may seem endless and the nights tarry on, but my dear child, your time is not yet come. Though your afflictions may be many they serve only to draw you wholly unto me. Therefore, pray without ceasing, always believing.  It is in your weakness that I am made strong, and in your triumph that I am glorified.  Lift high the Royal Banner – proclaim my Holy Name.

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4
