When I Pray
If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask for it.
When I pray, I don’t ask for riches, I ask for wealth; I don’t ask for knowledge, I ask for wisdom; I don’t ask to be sent, but to be guided.
One shall chase a thousand, and two shall put ten thousand to flight; for this reason, I don’t ask others to pray for me, but with me.
The toughest job I never had is the fulfillment of the great commission – Matt 28:30-32
Before one becomes a fisher of men – or a soul winner, as they say in the church, he has to become a disciple of Christ, and learn at the Master’s feet. That is why when Martha challenged Mary about not helping her in entertaining their guests, Jesus responded that she was in the best position for the purpose. Even though both of them were in the presence of Christ, only one of them was gaining his wisdom. Too many Christians are missing out on the glory that is His alone to give. For some, it is enough to be a card-carrying member of the body of Christ, and they are quite content to sit in the kitchen and wait for scraps from the table – even though there is a place prepared for them for them. They believe that as long they occupy a seat in church on Sunday and pay their tithes, they are in right-standing order with God; but, oh, how deceived they are.
In Luke 6:46, Jesus asked, “Why do you call me master and keep not my commandments?” There is a message there. You can cannot live your life according to the world and proclaim the truth that is in the Word – because that makes you a double-minded man and tells us that a double-minded man gets nothing from God. (James 1:5-8 5) That is why Proverbs 3:5 & 6 tell us, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
