Point to Ponder…Marriage 101
Accentuate the positive, Eliminate the negative
Life has a way of taking its toll on marriage…leaving us with little or no wiggle room, sapping our energy, and exhausting our resources…but if you focus more on the negatives, than on the positive aspects of the relationship, your marriage is doomed to fail, because whatever you feed is what grows.
The sanctity of the marriage may not yet be threatened, but the safety is, and once left untended, conflict will continue to ensue in this marriage as long as it takes for both partners to
come together in the same reality, because in essence, they have two different perspectives about reality and is striving to maintain it; so both partners need to do some soul-searching to get in touch with their inner selves (emotional house cleaning) because they are both carrying around excess baggage from the past that needs to be disposed of, and that is crowding out their present and threatening their future, and establish some area of accountability to their marriage and to each other. If they can work through these issues together, that would be the most dynamic action. However, if there is any element of discord, they should seek individual and group counseling of a spiritual nature, since it is their spirit that is wounded. Barring that, the game is a draw – no winners, only losers.
