There is an old saying that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. That is more than also true in the spiritual realm too, but the million dollar question is: where do they go? A baby Christian will go to their spiritual parent for comfort and consolation. A toddler Christian would more than likely go to a favored sibling – or to a natural parent. A spiritual adolescent would try to figure their way through or turn to their peers for insight. A spiritual adult knows to hold God in the highest regard, so when they encounter a situation that is greater than their capacity to endure, they take it to the Lord in prayer, and wait for his direction before implementing intervention procedures.
When you TAKE BABY STEPS TO A STRONG SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION, you allow yourself the time to learn and grow in all areas of your spiritual endeavors. As a spiritual baby, you learn to trust God to meet all your needs. As a spiritual toddler, you will first learn how to crawl, walk, run, feed and dress yourself in the armor of God. As a spiritual adolescent, you will learn how to identify your allies, when to go to battle, and when to retreat. As a spiritual adult, you will have learned that God is your strength and your shield, and it he who goes before you to make the crooked paths straight.
God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think. However, in our spiritual youth – as in the physical, we can only identify our needs. As we grow older, we become more readily aware of the provider, rather than the source, and is thereby encouraged by that knowledge…and influenced by our understanding that the way of the Lord is sure.
